Senior Electrical Engineering Consultant

Shape the delivery of complex electrical engineering projects while developing your technical expertise and supporting the growth of an established engineering team. Your role

• Deliver electrical engineering projects across a range of sectors, from feasibility studies and system upgrades to complex process plant and infrastructure projects.
• Develop electrical designs and specifications, including high-voltage AC and DC power systems, transmission and distribution networks and energy storage solutions.
• Manage the production, verification and approval of technical reports, specifications and detailed design documentation.
• Provide technical support across specialist electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, switchgear and cabling.
• Lead project teams, managing technical delivery, budgets, timescales and project risks.
• Build effective client relationships, develop technical requirements and coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Your experience

• Strong technical background in electrical engineering design, including Front End Engineering Design (FEED), design specifications or design substantiation.
• Knowledge of high-voltage power systems, energy distribution, industrial electrical systems or microgrids.
• Experience managing technical deliverables and supporting project delivery.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively and work with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience supporting the development of engineers through mentoring and technical guidance.

Desirable experience includes:

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards professional registration.
• Technical leadership on engineering projects.
• Experience with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), National Grid, HVDC, power electronics or earthing schemes.
• Familiarity with power system modelling tools such as PowerFactory, ETAP, Amtech, PSCAD or Simulink.
• Knowledge of power systems asset management, ISO 55001 or working with industry regulators.

Salary and rewards

• £70,000 to £80,000 per annum.

Where you will work
Hybrid working is available, with positions based in Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester or Burton. Working arrangements will include a combination of office attendance, client-site visits and home working.
