Manufacturing Engineer

Summary
Take ownership of manufacturing engineering challenges across development and production, with exposure to both established processes and new product introduction. You will broaden your experience across industrial validation, manufacturing architecture and continuous improvement. The role offers scope to build broader manufacturing engineering capability, including exposure to industrial validation, manufacturing architecture and future manufacturing principles.

Where you will be based
The role is based in Bedfordshire and mainly site-based, typically requiring 4 to 5 days per week onsite due to the nature of work, however flexibility where needed is offered. This is a permanent role.

Your role
You will provide hands-on manufacturing engineering support across development and production activities, working closely with engineering and operations teams to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve how products are built.

• Support existing manufacturing lines alongside new product introduction activities
• Investigate manufacturing problems, identify root causes and implement practical resolutions
• Support industrial validation using techniques including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and process proving
• Manage manufacturing configuration changes, ensuring design modifications are correctly incorporated into manufacturing documentation and validation activities
• Support non-conformance activities and ensure manufacturing processes consider safety, efficiency and cost
• Work with design engineering during prototype and development phases to improve Design for Manufacture, while developing manufacturing instructions, maintaining production Bills of Materials and supporting tooling development and control

Skills and background

• A practical understanding of manufacturing engineering within a production environment
• Ability to interpret design drawings and convert engineering information into clear manufacturing build instructions
• Experience supporting manufacturing documentation, configuration control or production BOMs
• Understanding of industrial validation methods, manufacturing process proving or FMEA
• A proactive approach to resolving production issues while maintaining delivery commitments
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across manufacturing, operations and design engineering functions

Essential requirements

• Relevant Engineering qualification or Craft Apprenticeship with HNC or equivalent
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings and translating technical requirements into practical manufacturing instructions
• Manufacturing engineering experience within a production or development environment
• Strong practical problem-solving capability and an ability to support delivery milestones

Salary and rewards
A base salary up to £45,000 is on offer for this role. In addition to this, you will have access to a number of benefits, including:
